
October 16 (Saturday): Our First Artisans' Market at Williams-Sonoma. The store's flagship location in San Francisco's Union Square becomes headquarters to the local food movement with Northern California producers dropping by giving demos of their artisan foods, including Dragoncakes, Galaxy Desserts, Clairesquares, Mendocino Sea Salt & Seasoning, Redwood Hill Farms, Perfect Endings and the Smoked Olive. The event runs all day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and there's no charges (unless you buy something).

October 19 (Tuesday): “Baked Explorations” book signing at Omnivore Books. This tiny Noe Valley cookbook store hosts the authors and owners of the cult favorite Brooklyn shop, Baked. Meet Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito from 6 to 7 p.m. Free. For more information visit www.omnivorebooks.com/events.
October 23 (Saturday): Cheese Plus’ 6th Annual Fall Harvest Artisan Food Festival. This gourmet and local cheese store on Polk and Pacific in San Francisco lets you get a taste of some of Northern California’s boutique cheese makers, who will be there to tell you all about what makes their cheese so special. Also, book signings by authors Gordon Edgar, Sasha Davies and Maggie Foard. Drop by anytime between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2001 Polk St.
October 29-31 (Friday to Sunday): Ferry Building Harvest Festival. This weekend of free events at the city’s food Mecca will feature varietal honey tasting, live music, face painting and something called “Barnyard by the Bay.” On Friday, there’ll be an Organic Wine and Beer Tasting from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 for this event and can be purchased here.
